Space Unites Us Competition – Win Star City Visit
Launch date May 10, 2018: Czech-Russian student competition targeting elementary and secondary schools. Grand prize: exclusive excursion to Star City near Moscow, the legendary cosmonaut training facility. Roskosmos Russian Space Corporation backs this initiative.
Four-Round Championship Structure
The competition runs through November 2018 with four distinct phases. Round one challenges participants to craft an essay on selected space topics. Top 30 Czech and 30 Russian authors advance to round two, earning their first reward: authentic cosmonaut meal packages. Winners receive public recognition during the International Summer School of Space Aviation "Together to Space" hosted in Liberec, July 13-20, 2018.
Round two shifts to video production. The 20 best creators earn planetarium visits with specialized programming and proceed to round three. Here, contestants present their videos at the planetarium and face a rigorous space research knowledge quiz. Prize: telescopes for the winners. Ten finalists form five Czech-Russian pairs for the ultimate fourth round.
Final Challenge and Grand Prize
The final round tests teams with a critical space emergency scenario requiring collaborative problem-solving. Winners head to Moscow for the grand finale: Star City tour, visits to cosmonautics museums in Moscow and Kaluga, plus the space pavilion at Moscow Exhibition Center.
Mission Objectives
This competition aims to ignite Czech and Russian youth interest in space topics while strengthening international friendship bonds. Participants gain direct exposure to space research methods, scientific findings, and practical applications in everyday life. Such extensive international educational collaboration advances cultural exchange between nations.
